THE WESTERN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES (ACS-WASC)
Qualifying for and maintaining an active accreditation status and its inherent requirements relies on an internal evaluation of the program and is undertaken voluntarily by schools to prove the presence of a rigorous standards-based curriculum and educational program. It includes providing factual evidence of high-quality learning materials, the completion of a self-study report, and feedback from all stakeholders. Schools must also clearly demonstrate continual self-improvement. An accreditation status is awarded based on the measurement of the program's intricacies as compared to the specific criteria set forth by the Accrediting Commission for Schools.
CMASAS has remained accredited since its inception in 2009. Initially accredited by the NWAC, CMASAS moved to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS-WASC) beginning in 2020 and just re-secured a six-year full accreditation status in the spring of 2024. CMASAS continues to meet the following criteria:
- Focusing on student learner goals and school mission.
- Fostering a student-oriented environment with continuous improvement and consistent assessment of academic standards that promote student success.
- Maintaining a qualified faculty within an effectively organized school that is committed to maintaining a cutting-edge curriculum and educational journey for all students.
- Ensuring the presence of academic rigor within the expansive course offerings while encouraging student engagement and autonomy.
- Sustaining consistent goal-setting and strategic planning for student college and career readiness by embracing the CMASAS personalized education philosophy.
- Committing to a safe online community enhanced by several opportunities for peer-to-peer connections.
- Accepting objective evaluation from a team of outside peer professionals trained by ASC-WASC.
ASC-WASC is one of six regional accreditation agencies for kindergarten-12th grade, serving western states, the pacific region, and schools worldwide. Programs that are currently accredited by ACS-WASC must adhere to the credit acceptance policy for member schools.
