TAKE A BREAK AND DIVE INTO FALL CRAFTS!

Written By: Kim Ozment

Taking a break from schoolwork not only rejuvenates your mind but also opens the door to creativity. What better way to celebrate the season than by diving into some delightful fall crafts? As the leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold, it’s the perfect time to step away from your course work, take a craft break, and embrace the cozy spirit of fall!

Research tells us that taking breaks can significantly boost productivity, reduce anxiety and depression, and spark creativity. Breaking down your day to include something creative will help you to stay positive and be happier! Here are a few benefits of taking craft breaks:

  • Reconnect with Nature: Gathering leaves, acorns, and pinecones during a leisurely walk. Nature’s treasures inspire beautiful, organic crafts and taking a walk is a healthy way to break up your day.
  • Mindfulness and Relaxation: Crafting requires focus and attention, allowing your mind to drift away from school-related stress.
  • Homemade Decor: Create beautiful decorations for your room, or for gifts to give to family and friends.
  • Quality Time: Crafting can be a fun group activity with friends or family, making lasting memories over shared creativity.

Here are some easy and enjoyable fall craft ideas to get you started:

1. Leaf Art

Collect colorful autumn leaves and create stunning art pieces. You can press them between sheets of wax paper, frame them, or use them to make greeting cards. The vibrant colors of fall leaves make for beautiful, natural decorations.

Finding time for these activities amidst a busy schedule can be challenging. Here are some tips to carve out moments for crafting:

  • Schedule Your Breaks: Block out specific times in your calendar for crafting, just as you would for a meeting or schoolwork.
  • Start Small: Begin with quick projects that don’t require extensive materials or time. Taking small breaks are just as beneficial as longer ones!
  • Involve Family and Friends: Turn your crafting time into a social event. It’s more enjoyable and keeps you motivated!
  • Create a Crafting Corner: Dedicate a small space in your home for crafting. Having a designated area can make it easier to jump into creative projects whenever you have a moment.

As school starts and fall blankets the world in beautiful fall colors, taking a craft break from school can be a fun way to connect with the season as you get back into the groove of school. Whether you’re creating decorations, gifts, or simply enjoying the process, these fall craft activities allow you to slow down, appreciate the beauty around you, and unleash your creativity. So, grab your supplies, sip on some warm cider, and let the autumn crafts begin!
