WEARING MANY HATS: A CMASAS JOURNEY AS A MOTHER, AND MORE...

Written By: Jamie Marcella

As a mom, I often find myself juggling multiple roles, something many parents—and adults in general—can relate to. But here at CMASAS, my roles extend beyond just being a Personalized Education Coach (PEC) and course instructor. I’m also a marketing coordinator, giving tours to potential parents, and most importantly, I’m a parent of three CMASAS students in elementary, middle, and high school. You could say we’re keeping everything “in-house” when it comes to education!

I discovered CMASAS just before COVID-19 made traditional brick-and-mortar educating and schooling impossible. At the time, I was running my travel agency full time; while teaching part-time and with the world shutting down, I realized my business couldn’t sustain itself through such an uncertain period. I decided to transition from my part-time role in a local school district as a reading and math interventionalist to a more stable, full-time position at CMASAS. As I grew into my role here, I fell in love with our philosophy of personalized education. As a homeschooling parent, I knew it was in my kids’ best interest to have someone else take the wheel for a while so I could focus on teaching full-time and manage a cross-state move. One by one, I enrolled my children at CMASAS.

Some days are challenging—my kids are notorious procrastinators and can be a bit stubborn, often hesitant to ask for help. But the attentiveness of the Personalized Education Coaches at CMASAS has been a game-changer. They’ve been mindful of each of my children’s unique needs, and they’ve stepped up during tough times, especially when one of my kids faced significant mental health challenges. The support of our CMASAS family has made a profound difference in our lives, and I’m forever grateful for the care and dedication of the staff.

As a marketing coordinator, I often find myself giving tours to potential parents, introducing them to the CMASAS experience. I’ll admit, speaking to other adults can make me a bit weary, but my love for CMASAS and my belief in our mission helps me push through these fears. I hope that my passion shines through every conversation.

Being part of CMASAS as both a parent and a staff member has been a unique and rewarding experience. I’m proud to be part of a community that truly understands and supports each student’s individual journey.
