Graduation Requirements

CMA School of Arts and Sciences is an accredited registered private school in the state of Oregon. As such, all graduates are required to meet Oregon graduation requirements and the standards set forth by our accreditation through WASC. WASC policies and procedures outline certain requirements that all institutions must meet in order to be in compliance and maintain accreditation. As part of these requirements, students graduating from WASC member schools must complete at least 25% of the course required for graduation at the institution. That means students must complete a minimum of 5 credits through CMASAS in order to be eligible for a high school diploma. Additionally, all students must be full‐time at time of graduation and have been on a full-time enrollment/tuition plan at least one semester leading up to their graduation date.

We recognize that while many will pursue a college education, others may forego the college experience to pursue and fulfill their personal goals and ambitions. CMASAS provides multiple paths for those individual goals. Our graduation requirements have been designed to meet and exceed Oregon State Department of Education requirements. Students receive a rigorous college‐prep education and yet maintain the flexibility to meet individual goals for life after graduation, wherever their path may lead. As part of this flexibility, CMASAS offers two diploma track options:

  • Standard: This diploma is awarded to students who complete all subject specific requirements and 2 elective credits. This option may not meet the minimum college entrance requirements but fulfills the minimum credit and course requirement from CMASAS. Students may still meet minimum college entrance requirements if the correct courses are taken. We advise students on the standard track to work closely with the school counselor to be sure they meet college admission requirements if that is their goal.

  • College Prep: This diploma is awarded to students who complete all subject specific requirements and 6 elective credits. Overall, this diploma track should allow the majority of students to meet most 4-year college or university's minimum admission requirements. Students planning on attending a 4-year college or university need to review each potential university's admission requirements and carefully create a course plan to meet those requirements. PECs and the school counselor are here to help develop those course plans.

Requirements for the standard and college prep diplomas are detailed in the table below. Suggests minimum requirements for 4-year universities and highly selective school are also listed to help guide students toward a course plan that allows them to achieve their goals.
